The Evolution of Media

            All we know that media is a means of mass communication. But how in a way did people communicate before the technology exists? The media has evolved and now easily to access. We all know, that human communication was through ancient caves, drawn maps and paintings. However, nowadays we associate mass media to computers, internet, newspapers, magazines and any forms of media. But we usually use technology to inform us since our generation is called millennials.

• According to McLuhan, we need to focus on our everyday experience of technology. He divided all human history into four periods- a tribal age, literate age, print age and an electronic age.  Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980), Canadian professor of literature and culture, developed a theory of media and human development claiming that "the medium is the message." Four Periods: ·          The Tribal Age:   An Acoustic Era-  In tribal age, senses were used. It was more on hearing because it allows you to be more aware of your surroundings. You only could see one direction. You are not able to notice the other things that surround you if sense of sight is more dominant. There are few materials for the communication that’s why the communication before was not stable and credible. Until machines, gadgets, printed copy and other forms of media came in the picture and open the eyes of people to new generation of communication. It may tackle about sports, politics, arts, advertising and so on. You could see it on a certain place or even nearby roadsides. Its contents are reasonably accessible by the public. Traditionally, newspapers are distributed at newsstands and shops. As of 2017, most of newspapers are published online. Online versions are called online newspapers.         Radio             Radio  was invented by a German named Heinrich Hertz in1888. It is a technology that used radio waves to carry out information and sounds. As of the era of old-time radio or Golden Age of Radio, Radio is prominently used and widely known for being the only broadcast medium. Apparently, radio is created with a variety of genres such as radio plays , mystery serials,  soap operas ,  quiz shows ,  talent shows ,  variety hours ,  situation comedies ,  children's shows and  cooking shows . Radio nowadays takes many forms including wireless networks and mobile communication. You could actually see radio app in every mobile phone.
